Firm-Sponsored Pub Crawl Raises More Than $68K For Make-A-Wish Foundation

HOBOKEN, N.J. (January 3, 2015) -- Simon Bennett Robbins Oppenheim & Taft is pleased to announce that its fourth-annual Pub Crawl to benefit the tri-state region's chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation generated a record total of $68,255, with 55 area law firms participating in the event.

That amount represents more than double the $31,908 that the event yielded in 2013 and more than four-times the total of $12,539 raised in 2012.

"We're thrilled beyond words at the outpouring of support we received," said SBR's managing partner Mike Simon. "To see so many folks who we typically compete against in a court of law come out and lend their time and creativity is truly humbling."

This year's Pub Crawl began at 9 p.m. at O'Hurley's Tavern on Eighth Street and spanned more than two dozen restaurants and bars, with participants downing at least one shot of liquor at each stop. The evening drew to a close just before midnight at the Santa Fe Café on the corner of Broadhurst Lane and Woodmere Avenue.

The firm received cash and other in-kind donations for the event from Adamicki's Fresh Market, Kraussmeyer's Delicatessen, Kelly's Pub, The Law Offices Of Siegel & Siegel, J&G Liquors, Bentley's, Otto's Diner, Wild Bill's Sports Bar, and the Old Greenwich Bakery.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has long been one of the favorite charities of the partners and associates at SBR, dating to the late 1980s when the organization made the lifelong dream come true of then-partner Joanne Kimbrough's ailing son by bringing him to Yankee Stadium to meet and take photos with all-star outfielder Dave Winfield.

"Even if that incredible meeting had never taken place, our firm would still be the same huge supporters of Make-A-Wish," continued Simon. "The smiles that Make-A-Wish brings to the faces of so many thousands of sick children every year is truly awe-inspiring. Our hope is that this event continues with the same exponential growth that we've experienced over the last four years."

To date, the employees of SBR have raised more than $5.6 million over the last quarter-century for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
