Katie joined Simon, Bennett, Robbins, Oppenheim, & Taft in November, 2011, after working as an associate at the firm of Roger, Everett, Gerald, & Thomas for the previous three years. She is based out of the firm's Staten Island office. Katie specializes in litigation, tribal energy development, Indian & Native American law, environmental and natural resources, Oil and natural gas, mediation, alternative dispute resolution, family law, foreclosures, and subprime mortgages.

Katie completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota (Duluth) with a double-major in American history and biology. She attended law school at Dartmouth College in Vermont, where she delivered the valedictory address to her classmates at graduation.
Katie arrived at the firm with a wealth of experience in Native American law, as she handled hundreds of related case-work for the Seminole Tribe of Florida and the Monahaweek Tribe of Kansas. Most of her experience is in the area of jurisdiction and development of natural resources on Indian land. She was a critical member of the team of attorneys that petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court in the matter of Kentucky v. Jones-Walker (1999).
Katie is licensed to appear in: the U.S. Court of Appeals, 2nd Circuit; the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit; the U.S. Court of Appeals, 13th Circuit; the U.S. Court of Appeals, 17th Circuit; the U.S. District Court of Kentucky (Eastern, Southern); the U.S. District Court of New York (Southern); the U.S. Supreme Court.

She also is an honorary trustee of the Washington State Bar and the Wyoming Council for Indian Affairs.
Katie has been named by the Suffolk County Lawyers Committee as one of the "Top 25 Lawyers" in the New York region, one of the "10 Best Family Attorneys" by the New York Times-Review
and top "Thirty Under 30 Movers and Shakers" by the Los Angeles Business Law Journal.
