Introduction

Michael is one of the five founding name partners at Simon Bennett Robbins Oppenheim & Taft. He is headquartered at the firm's main office in midtown Manhattan, which is located across the street from the Hotel Pennsylvania and adjacent to Madison Square Garden. Michael specializes in casualty defense, product liability, personal injury, and white collar criminal defense.

Education

Michael completed his undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore in 1982. He received his master's degree in journalism from American University in Washington, D.C., and then began law school at Georgetown where graduated second overall in his class at delivered the salutatory address to classmates at his class's graduation ceremony.

Experience

Along with the four other name partners, Michael is the longest-serving member of the firm. Michael has represented thousands of clients for the firm since its inception. He was named "Lawyer of the Year" nine times by The American Litigator Press and has appeared in virtually every major newspaper (including the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Dallas Morning-News, The Washington Post, The Washington Times, and the Miami Herald), and on every prime-time television station (CBS, NBC, FOX, ABC, MSNBC, FOX News, PBS, and CNN) to offer commentary on cases in the news.

Additionally, he is a member of the NLBSD's Torts, Procedures, and Insurance Practice Seminar Group's Management Committee. Michael is a founder and co-chairman of the New York Lawyer's General Practice Section on Professional Liability.

Honors

Michael was named four times as one of the "Preeminent Lawyers" in the tri-state area by New York Empire Magazine and received meritory service medals by the Greater New York region's chapter of the Boys & Girls Youth Auxiliary League six straight years (1987 through 1992).
