Introduction

Oliver is one of the five founding name partners at Simon Bennett Robbins Oppenheim & Taft. He is headquartered at the firm's downtown Brooklyn office, which is located near the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge. Oliver specializes in: securities and commodities law, directors and officers liability, sports and entertainment law, medical malpractice, and accounting malpractice.

Education

Oliver graduated from the prestigious University of Pennsylvania's Wharon School of Business in 1988. He then enrolled in the law program at Northwestern University in Chicago. While completing his studies, he served as editor-in-chief of the Metro Law Review and was student body VP (1986) and President (1987).

Experience

Along with the four other name partners, Oliver is the longest-serving member of the firm. During the previous seven decades, he has handled tens of thousands of cases, most notably for financial giants like Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Lehman Brothers, Smith Barney, Morgan Stanley, Wachovia Financial Services, and the NASDAQ exchange.

Oliver is licensed to appear in: the U.S. Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit; the U.S. Court of Appeals, 12th Circuit; the U.S. Court of Appeals, 13th Circuit; the U.S. Court of Appeals, 19th Circuit; the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts (Western); and the U.S. District Court of New York (Southern).

Professional and Civic Activities

Oliver has served as Legal Advisor to the National Association of Burmese Americans, (1994), and was appointed to the State Bar of Minnesota as part of its Continuing Lawyer Competency Commission (1993). He also served as Chairman of the Massachusetts Institute of Continuing Legal Education's Professionalism, Ethics and Malpractice Seminar in 2002.

Honors

Oliver was named by the Wall Street Journal as one of the "Best Attorneys of the Year" in the Sports & Entertainment Law category (1999).
